Our new Nephew/Cousin has arrived...a little bit late!

Okay so I have been saying that we are going to be posting backwards for awhile to catch this blog up. So, after our family reunion we had been home for 5 days, we packed up again and headed down south to welcome our first nephew and cousin, Weston! As all of you know, he was born a little bit early and was sooo tiny! Here are a few pictures of him from the hospital. We praise God that he is now a healthy, happy, and not to mention, gorgeous baby boy! We love you so much Wessie!

Gutierrez Reunion 2009

Jon went fishing with Remmington in the pond on the farm.

The road to the farm!

A VERY Hot Day at the Royals game, and a very pregnant Marci!
We went minature golfing with the whole Gutierrez family. This is Joy golfing with cousin Caleb.
Joy at the mall of America

Here are a few pics from our Gutierrez reunion this past summer. We had a great time visiting with family in Iowa, Minnesota, and Missouri. We were gone for about a month and really enjoyed every minute of the trip. At the end of our trip we went to Missouri to stay with my mom and Paul on the farm. It was absolutely beautiful there!

Explanation 101!

So you see the new photo of me posted above.....the explanation is quite simple.......
Nanni decided that the turkey carcass from our traditional "bringing home baby" roast needed to be quickly discarded of outside.....The turkey, this pot, and a few months later daddy smelled something funny that led to the discovery of this landmine....It was a few months after Ava's delivery....I had mowed the lawn one last time the day before her delivery so I wouldn't have to do it for a few weeks after she arrived. I had kept the front lawn mowed a for a few weeks after her birth but fertilized the backyard and continued to let it go......Fast forward a few "months" and I was ready to mow the lawn one last time before its winter rest......As I walked around the backyard I smelled this odor which smelled like nothing short of a dead carcass. The odor permeated my skin, my eyes, and most importantly my nose. Everyone "nose" I have a weak stomach for bad odors and this had reached that level....I began to gag uncontrollably, much like I do when we get those calls for the body thats been dead for a week or the man who has gone into cardiac arrest after eating his last meal of chili beans and beer. Yum! Certainly this odor could not be coming from my backyard.....but then I spotted it......a pot tucked nicely into the bushes by the corner of our house.....I dare not.....I have to....please don't! I did! I opened it and there it was.......maggot stew! One rotting carcass and thousands of squirming, slithering, scouring, and happy maggots! I ran......not because I was scared but because I was freaked out....To my toolshed I went.....there I have nicely stored two respirators......I donned the respirator......put on some gloves......grabbed a shovel.....said a prayer and I began to dig.......and dig.....and dig......and dig.........Then I realized I needed some evidence.....who would believe this? I knocked on the back door and surprisingly enough the prosecutions chief defendant answered the door....."grab the camera" I told Nanni, "I found your Turkey...." I really wanted to show her the mess she had created but quickly realized I would have to dig two holes......I opted for the "lid on" pose and my evidence was secured........

Wait a minute.........................Hello, this is not Totally true.... This is Nanni here. Yes, the joys of being able to post on this blog the truth is rewarding.

Here's the real story: Yes, there was the turkey and yes I did put it into a pot, but.......the reason was to boil the bones and make broth. So, there you know, I DID NOT put raw bones in a pot and hide it under a bushel!!!!

Made nice turkey broth with great intentions. Too many things to do taking care of house, baby etc; left pot on the stove absent mindedly one night while helping Mom and new baby and family. Went home next day. Returned a day later and there on the stove still was the pot, now 24 hours later.

As I recall, company was coming to see Ava, we were picking up frantically and I conveniently opened the patio door, and put the pot on the side of the house.............never to think about it again. So there's the rest of the story. Bye!!!

Updating The Blog!

Ava and Matt on Christmas Day- him and his partner stopped by for some dessert later in the day.
Joy on Christmas morning!

Okay so for now... I am going to attempt to keep our blog updated fairly regularly. After the verbal abuse given to us by a few of our dear family members, Jon and I have decided to give this "blog thing" another go. So I am going to do my best and keep you all updated with what is going on in our lives!

Over the next little while I will post recent pics of the girls...and then other times I will post older pics of the girls so that I can attempt to bring the blog "up to date." So with all of that said, happy reading!
